Communication Skills and Game Management
Our instructors emphasize the importance of professional communication skills with partners and coaches. You will learn how to work as a team with your partner, how to conduct pre-game meetings, and how to address many other in-game scenarios. We will also teach you the professional way to handle game situations and arguments.
Throughout the school, we will focus on two-man mechanics. However, our more advanced students can receive instruction in three-man mechanics.
Plate Mechanics
We will show you how to improve your mechanics behind the plate. We teach the box system and will show you proper head height, angles, footwork, signals, and jurisdictions. Our instructors will help you improve on tracking the ball and maintaining consistent timing.
You will also receive one VHS tape of your cage work.

Advanced Mechanics
We have many students that come to our clinic with years of experience at high levels of amateur baseball. We've even had students that worked as "locals" in professional baseball.
Each year, to address the needs of those students, we have an advanced group that focuses on the more technical aspects of umpiring. In addition to honing their basic mechanics, this group works on issues like responsibilities and jurisdictions of crew members in two and three-man mechanics and handling discussions at higher levels of baseball. After attending the advanced mechanics clinic, students should feel comfortable working games at any level of baseball. |
